8 What does the law provide for the property of registered and non-registered partners?

Registered partnerships (civil partnerships - French PACS) are regulated by Art. 515-1 CC et seqq. These partnerships are availableto same-sex (as well as opposite-sex) couples.

Civil partners are jointly and severally liable for debts contracted by one of the partners for "everyday needs" (Art. 515-4 CC).

Property for which ownership is not established is presumed to be jointly owned (Art. 515-5 CC). Partners may also stipulate that property acquired during the partnership is jointly owned (Art. 515-5-1 CC).
